Tivaron Study — Records and Legal
Cookie Policy
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. It lets the site recognise the same browser on a later visit, remember a preference, or count a visit for statistical purposes. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, pixels and software development kits — do comparable work, and everything written in this Policy about cookies applies to them equally.
Tivaron Study uses very few of them. This page explains exactly what we set, what it does, how long it lasts, and how to remove it.
1. Categories of cookies on this website
Strictly necessary
These make the site work at all. They keep a session alive, protect forms against cross-site request forgery, balance load between servers, and hold the state of the guest book form while you are completing it. They cannot be switched off through the site, because without them the pages would not function. They do not follow you anywhere and are not used for advertising.
Preference
These remember a choice you made so that the library looks the same the next time you enter it. The main one is the theme switch: when you move between the dark Archive and the light Atrium, a small value is stored in your browser so that the walls are the material you chose when you return. This value contains no personal information and is readable only by this website.
Analytics
These help us understand which halls of the site are visited, how long pages are viewed, and where visitors leave. We use the results only in aggregate, to improve the structure of the site and the clarity of our material. Analytics cookies are set only where consent is required and given, and they never carry your name, email address or telephone number.
Advertising
We do not use them. Tivaron Study does not run advertising cookies, does not build advertising profiles, does not use retargeting pixels, and does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
2. What is actually set
| Name or type | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session identifier | Keeps the page session coherent while you browse. | Strictly necessary | Until the browser is closed |
| Form protection token | Protects the guest book form against forged submissions. | Strictly necessary | Session |
| Theme preference | Remembers whether you chose the Archive or the Atrium. | Preference | Up to 12 months |
| Consent record | Records the cookie choice you made, so we do not ask again. | Strictly necessary | Up to 12 months |
| Aggregate analytics | Counts page views and routes through the site in aggregate. | Analytics | Up to 24 months |
| Platform and security cookies | Set by the hosting platform to serve pages and prevent abuse. | Strictly necessary | Session to 12 months |
The exact names of platform cookies are determined by our hosting provider and may change when the provider updates its systems. The categories, purposes and durations above describe what those cookies do.
3. Your choices
Where consent is required by the law of your jurisdiction, non-essential cookies are set only after you have given it, and you may withdraw that consent at any time. Independently of any consent banner, you can control cookies in your browser:
- Delete existing cookies through the privacy or history settings of your browser.
- Block third-party cookies, or all cookies, in the same settings.
- Use a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when the window is closed.
- Turn on the tracking-prevention features that most modern browsers include.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of this website from working, including the guest book form. Blocking preference cookies simply means the site will forget your theme and open in the Archive each time.
4. Do Not Track and global privacy signals
Because we do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, there is nothing here for a tracking signal to switch off. Where a browser sends a recognised global privacy control signal, we treat it as an instruction not to set non-essential cookies.
5. Changes to this Policy
If we add a tool that sets a cookie, this Policy is updated before the tool goes live, and the effective date at the top of the page is changed. We recommend reviewing this page occasionally; a library is only trustworthy if its catalogue is accurate.
